About the Program
The program addresses academic, language, behavioral, sensory and other needs with a primary focus on building social communication and emotional regulation skills. The program is designed to provide interventions that support the core challenges of autism spectrum disorders, however, the program is not exclusive to those students who are identified as having an autism spectrum disorder. Placement is determined through district/school identification as part of the Child Find and Special Education evaluation process.
All students are educated alongside their peers and are taught skills to independently access general education settings and curriculum.
CSD was designed to provide interventions with autism spectrum disorders however the program is non-exclusive of those who are not identified on the autism spectrum disorders.
What is Autism?
Autism is a developmental disability that affects how people experience the world around them. Autistic people are an important part of the world. Autism is a normal part of life and makes Autistic people who they are.
What are the effects of Autism?
Autism is a part of a group of naturally occurring individualized brain differences, like ADHD, dyslexia, and Tourette’s, which are often referred to as being neurodiverse or neurodivergent.
Loving Autism
Many Autistic people have specialized interests and preferences that are especially close to their hearts. They are also different and unique in the ways they think, move, communicate, socialize, and live day-to-day.
We at The da Vinci Academy value our neurodiverse learners and believe they are perfect just the way they are. We respect everyone’s experiences and individualized preferences are highly individualized. We value our role in collaborating with students and families. We understand the importance of Autistic people having a “voice” and being part of all aspects of their own life and education. Our goal is to provide support and learning opportunities for all learners to be included as essential members of the community.
How does a child get placed in CSD?
All child placements are determined by the school/district identification process through Child Find, and Special Education evaluations.
